Meet Laurie
Hi, I’m Laurie Polomsky.
I won a writing contest in 5th grade… and then apparently decided to take the scenic route for the next 40 years before publishing my first book.
In between, I followed every passion that made me feel alive. I journaled constantly, wrote stories, obsessed over books about writing, earned my English degree in Creative Writing from the University of Houston, taught middle school English, owned a bakery, loved a lot of people and dogs, made mistakes, wasted time, overthought things, started over more than once, and slowly built a life full of stories worth telling.
I’ve always been someone trying to make life feel a little better. A little easier. A little more meaningful. Sometimes that looked like baking cookies for people. Sometimes it looked like helping dogs feel safe while their humans were away. Sometimes it looked like trying to figure out how not to lose my mind in a camper with another human, multiple dogs, and approximately 14 square feet of walking space.
And then one day, somewhere between the driving, the chaos, the conversations, the snacks, and the dogs, I stepped into the RV and something clicked.
The ideas would not leave me alone.
That entire weekend, every spare second I had, I was brainstorming. Notes. Lists. Stories. Systems. Tiny observations that somehow became bigger ideas. What started as scattered thoughts turned into weeks, then months, of piecing together something that finally felt like me.
Not just an RV book.
Something bigger.
A book about travel, dogs, relationships, communication, stress, comfort, tiny systems, and figuring out how to actually enjoy life while you’re living it.
Because the truth is, I don’t think most people need perfection.
I think they need things that actually work.
The Best RV Guide for Couples with Dogs became the place where all the pieces of my life finally converged into one thing that made complete sense.
Now that I’ve caught the publishing bug, I don’t think there’s any cure for it.
